About the Position: Harlan County Project Office is located in a rural portion of south central
nebraska
with the nearest town being Republican City, population 200. Alma, NE with a population of 1,200 is located approximately 9 miles west of the Harlan County Project Office. This area offers small town living at its best! With ample hunting and fishing opportunities, Harlan County Lake is a sportsman s paradise.
Harlan County Project includes a total 31,000 acres, with 13,250 acres of water surface. Harlan County Lake is Nebraska's second largest lake. The Corps of Engineers operates and maintains six recreation areas. The Corps also manages approximately 15,000 acres for wildlife including pheasants, quail, turkey, deer, ducks and geese. We have an extensive wildlife management partnerships with Nebraska Game and Parks, Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation and other entities.
We are looking for an energetic person that thrives in a challenging and diverse work environment. The Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for maintaining water quality in our Administrative and recreation areas. This position will also be involved with a variety of duties and operating equipment in support of the recreation, environmental stewardship and flood risk management missions.
